How much do we pay for used saxophones?
To prevent disappointment, indicative prices we pay are below. To offer saxophones to our customers at competitive rates we operate with only 15% gross profit or less.
Each instrument is taken apart, cleaned, lubricated and regulated regardless of the condition you think it is in. It usually takes two days work to get an instrument ready for sale.
Alto Saxophones
Student instruments and sub-brands eg: Trevor James 'The Horn', Jupiter 500, Boosey and Hawkes 400, Evette.
£100 to £180 depending on age and condition.
Intermediate Instruments: £180 to £350.
Tenor Saxophones
Student instruments: £180 to £300
Intermediate instruments: £300 to £600
Baritone Saxophones
Starting at £450 upwards
It depends on condition. If the body tube is bent or the foot is missing we will not be interested.
Soprano Saxophones
There is no demand for student or sub-brand soprano's so we are unable to buy these.
Intermediate brands such as Jupiter 700 series or Yamaha 400 series would start at £300.
The price offered may be higher or lower and depends on:
- Brand: Popular brands like Yamaha, Jupiter, John Packer, Trevor James and Amati may get a premium offer.
- Finish: Funky colours or unlacquered finishes are usually detrimental to price as they take more time to sell.
- Condition: A few small dents and scratches is OK. If the pads are dry and need replacing, the offer will be low. A repad usually takes three days workshop time.
- Accessories: Things like stands, good straps and mouthpieces all help with the offer. Sometimes the mouthpiece is worth more than the sax!
